Please look over our Discussion Questions and Vocabulary.

Discussion Questions:

1.    What neighborhood do you live in? Was it icy?

2.   Could cars drive in your neighborhood?

3.   Did you go outside during the ice storm? 

4.   Did your house get cold? 

5.   The sidewalks were slick with black ice. Did you slip?

6.   Do you know anyone who got injured?

7.   Was the ice storm difficult for you or your family?

8.   Did you have to cancel your plans? 

9.   Did anything surprise you about the ice storm? 

10. Would you rather have a snowstorm or an ice storm?

 

 

Vocabulary:

Ice storm: When rain freezes and turns into ice

Example: The ice storm broke many tree branches. 

Snowstorm: A storm that has a lot of snow

Example: Did your car get stuck in the snowstorm?

Slick: Slippery

Example: Be careful, it’s raining outside and the roads are slick. 

 

Black ice: Ice that is difficult to see

Example: The cars slipped on the black ice.

 

Injured: to get hurt

Example: She injured her knee when she fell on the ice.

 

Difficult: not easy

Example: It is difficult for me to walk on ice.
